Interim Policy on Large Events and Gatherings Extended through June 30, 2021
We must support every action that helps to “flatten the curve” of new COVID-19 cases. To limit the spread of the virus in our workplace and Bay Area community – and to help hospitals and clinics manage the increase in demand for care – we are taking the following:

All non-essential events and gatherings – those involving 10 or more people – shall be cancelled or postponed, in accordance with the shelter in place order issued May 22, 2020 by the City and County of San Francisco.

All non-essential events and gatherings have been cancelled or postponed. Those who believe that an in-person event is essential must complete this form to request an exception. Any exception will need to be pre-approved in writing by the Chancellor.

The Aldea Center on Mount Sutro

The Aldea Center on Mount Sutro is available for Aldea San Miguel tenants as well as UCSF departments. This multi-purpose space can be used for studying, events, meetings, banquets, presentations, and retreats.

We are located at 155 Johnstone Drive at the top of Medical Center Way at the Parnassus Campus.

Tenants of Aldea San Miguel housing may reserve the Aldea Center for personal use at no charge, 7 days a week, 8am – 10pm up to 30 days in advance of their event.
Note: You can submit your request earlier than 30 days out but we will not confirm your date earlier than 30 days.  “Tenants” are defined as Aldea San Miguel Housing Agreement holders or other adults (spouses, partners, roommates) who live at Aldea San Miguel and are listed on the Housing Agreement.

UCSF Departmental Reservation Request
Department Request Form
The Aldea Center on Mount Sutro is open for reservations by the UCSF community. The venue is available Monday - Friday, 8am – 7pm.

Departmental Rates
Up to 4 hours: $970 per day    
More than 4 hours: $1470 per day

RCO Rates
Up to 4 hours: $400 per day
4 hours or more: $650 per day

Getting Here:
The Aldea Center’s main event space is upstairs. There is an elevator off of the loading/unloading driveway, as well as stairs to access the 2nd level. The loading/unloading driveway has one parking spot designated ADA. Please do not pull into the driveway otherwise as it is used by staff and caterers.

Shuttle Information:
Guests can take the Bronze shuttle from Parnassus to Aldea. Passes are now required to ride the Bronze shuttle. Send a request for temporary shuttle passes to aldeacenter[at]ucsf.edu. If your event will have more than 30 attendees who will be utilizing the shuttle, you may want to reserve a private shuttle by contacting UCSF’s Parking and Transportation department. Parking:
There are 28 parking spaces reserved for guests of the Aldea Center. Aldea Center parking spots are marked in red and denoted by color and number on map below. There are 10 spaces numbered 500 - 510 directly in front of the center and an additional 18 spots up Johnstone Drive, numbered 511 - 522 and 524 - 531. Map can be shared using this link.

Please be sure not to park in a blue or yellow spot as these are designated for tenants and you may be ticketed or towed. Additional street parking can be found on Clarendon Avenue.

The Mission Bay Housing Community Room

The Mission Bay Housing Community Room is a multi-purpose room available for Housing tenants and UCSF department use.

Features:
The 1038 square foot Community Room is a resource for all Mission Bay tenants and can be used as a place to lounge, to study, hold events, meetings, banquets, presentations, retreats and conferences.

  • Fits up to 50 people.
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows with blinds on three sides of the room.
  • 2 restrooms available.
  • Full kitchen complete with refrigerator, oven range, microwave.
  • WiFi available.
  • Furniture in the room: 8 square tables, 30 chairs, L-shaped couch, a foosball table, a coffee table, a conference table, and 10 conference chairs.
  • Entertainment center with a DVD player and a 44” HD television with satellite service.

Tenants of Mission Bay housing may reserve the Community Room for personal use, 7 days a week, with no rental charge.  Tenants may use the Community Room up to 12 hours per month for free.  Please note that cancellations should be received 24 hours prior to the time of your reservation to allow others use of the space.

“Tenants” are defined as Mission Bay Housing Agreement holders or other adults (spouses, partners, roommates) who live at Mission Bay and are listed on the Housing Agreement.

Campus Reservation Request
Campus Request Form The Housing Services Community Room, located at Mission Bay, is open for reservations by the UCSF community. The venue is available Monday-Friday, from 8am-5pm.

Note: you must also fill out the “Tenant Request Form” above and get a confirmation email from Housing Services before your reservation is confirmed.

The Pelican Room at The Tidelands

The Pelican Room at The Tidelands
The Pelican Room is a multi-purpose room available to Tidelands Housing tenants and UCSF departments.

(Between Mariposa and 18th Streets)
The Tidelands buildings are located just across the street from the Benioff Children’s Hospital at Mission Bay. Easily accessible by foot or by UCSF Green Shuttle. Parking is available in the Mission Bay parking garages.

Tenants of The Tidelands housing may reserve the Pelican Room for personal use, 7 days a week, with no rental charge.  Limited features are available for tenants.

Tenants may use the Pelican Room and/or Sandpiper up to 12 hours per month for free, which a limit of 6 hours per reservation.  Please note that cancellations should be received 24 hours prior to the time of your reservation to allow others use of the space.

The Sandpiper Room is a multi-purpose room available to Tidelands Housing tenants and UCSF departments.

Located on the first floor of The Tidelands housing complex.
Easy access from the Mission Bay campus - a short walk or quick ride on the UCSF Green Shuttle. Maps located here.

Tenants of The Tidelands housing may reserve the Sandpiper Room for personal use, 7 days a week, with no rental charge.  Limited features are available for tenants.

Rental costs include in-house tables and chairs, set-up, breakdown, clean up for your event and use of the AV systems. If you require additional furniture and/or linens for your event, we’re happy to order those for you at an additional cost. ETS may be hired for further technology at an additional cost.
