Planning Your Workout

Who is approved to use Bakar Fitness Center?
Everyone. UCSF staff, students, the general public, members, and new members are all welcome.

What is your mask policy?
Current UCSF guidelines dictate that everyone, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status, must wear a face mask indoors.

What is the UCSF Health Screener that I have to complete prior to coming on to campus?
UCSF requires everyone – staff, students, and visitors – to complete a screening prior to coming on to campus. We ask that you show your health screen confirmation as you enter the fitness center.

How do I download the UCSF Fitness and Recreation mobile app?
Learn how to download the app, log in, sign up for classes, and update your payments online on Our Mobile App page.

When will the operating hours expand?
The ability to expand our facility hours will depend on our membership revenue. We plan to return to pre-pandemic hours, however as a self-supporting operation at UCSF, we need to make sure the membership revenues can cover the added operational costs needed to add more hours to the schedule.

When will towel service resume?
Towel service will resume when we are able to reopen the Outdoor Pool.

When will Millberry Fitness Center at Parnassus open?
Millberry Fitness Center will reopen on December 1, 2021.

 

Memberships and Daily Pass

Are you accepting new members?
Definitely. Review our membership options and sign up, we’d love to have you join our community.

Can I remain on free hibernation if I’m not ready to return?
Yes, all members who do not reactivate their membership will automatically remain on free hibernation until further notice. There is no need to take further action at this time.

Will day passes be available?
Day passes will not be available initially. To use the fitness center, please reactivate your membership or sign up for one. To enroll, complete this form or contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

What if I have an Off Peak or discounted membership?
You will maintain the same price as before but are not eligible for the reopening special offers which apply to our Premier and F45 Memberships. Off Peak hours will be adjusted temporarily to: 8:00-11:00 am and 1:00-3:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

 

Pools

When will the Bakar outdoor pool reopen?
We don’t have a confirmed date to reopen the pool at this time. While preparing to reopen, we discovered that the outdoor pool needs additional repairs. Although we are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible with providers, the pool will open at a later date. We will update our website as soon as we have more information.

 

Virtual Classes

Will virtual classes continue?
Yes, our virtual classes will continue until 9/30/21. Find the schedule here.

If I reactivate my membership and want to continue the virtual classes after 9/30/21, how can I do that?
After 9/30, our Virtual Membership will be available as an add-on for just $10/month.

 

Les Mills Classes

Why are Les Mills classes not recorded or offered virtually?
Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to record or offer Les Mills classes virtually.
