UCSF Mission Bay Child Care Center

Construction Impacts

A new child care center is being constructed on the Mission Bay Campus to provide UCSF families with expanded on-campus child care services. Once construction is complete, the children from the current center will move to the new facility and then the old center will be demolished.

Bright Horizons, LLC, operates all UCSF child care centers and will also operate the new Mission Bay Child Care Center. Bright Horizons is the largest provider of employer-sponsored child care in the United States and has been serving UCSF since 2003.

Work will occur on Block 18c and on the grounds of the child care center at 1555 6th Street, to reposition sheds, planters, and fences. These changes will enable UCSF to prepare and install underground utilities.

On Block 18a, soils will be off hauled, existing light fixtures will be excavated and removed underground utilities will be installed.

Equipment and materials will be delivered and moved with greater frequency.

Soils will be off hauled and light weight infill will be delivered to Block 18c.

Limited trenching work will occur on Gene Friend Way, just south of the child care center, to complete transformer installation. Work will involve excavating and jackhammering. Pedestrian access along Gene Friend Way will be maintained, but occasionally reduced, to accommodate the work.

Lighting will be installed on Block 14.

Concrete sidewalk will be poured on 6th St and at 5th and Nelson Rising Lane corners.
