How can I appeal a citation?

You can appeal a citation online, by fax, or by mail. If appealing by fax or mail, you must complete a written citation appeal form. The fax number and mailing address are on the form. A citation appeal form is available here: link to PDF form
or by calling 476-7191.

Who can I talk to regarding a citation

If you have questions regarding a citation, you are welcome to call our Parking Enforcement Line at (415) 476-7191; calls are returned within two business days. Citation appeals must be submitted online, by fax or by mail.

How long do I have to appeal a citation?

You have 21 days from the date of the citation to file an appeal, after which the fine will increase and the citation is reported to the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

If the initial ruling regaridng the appeal is unacceptable, a second appeal may be requested within 21 day of the initial ruling date. The second appeal must be filed by fax or mail within 21 calendar days from the issuance of the decision regarding the initial appeal.

How to I submit a second appeal?

If you wish to contest the initial judgment, you must do so within 21 days from the mailing date on the judgement letter by submitting: (1) a written explanation of your reason(s) for contesting the parking violation; and, (2) payment of the FULL AMOUNT of the parking penalty (as noted on your citation).

When will I receive a response to my citation appeal?

If you appeal your citation online, you will receive an email within 10 business days with the result of your appeal. If you appeal by fax or mail, you will receive a response within 10 business days of our reciept of your appeal.

How do I pay a citation?

Any amount due on your citation should be paid within 21 days to avoid delinquent penalty and further collection activity.

Make your payment payable to "UCSF Parking Collections Bureau" and write the citation number on your check or money order.

How much is my citation?

The payment or bail amount is listed on the citation and typically ranges from $40 to $275 depending on the violation. Please note that some citations are "warnings", for which no payment is required.
