Carpool

Lighten your commute burden by carpooling

Save money and park with ease when you share your UCSF commute (most campus destinations apply, immediately available at Mission Bay and Laurel Heights). Each carpool needs a minimum of three people to qualify.

Carpool parking permit

As a carpool member, you may purchase a carpool parking permit together with your fellow carpoolers on a pre-tax basis. Carpools must arrive at their designated parking lot with ALL riders in the car.

Compare the following prices to the $118.00 monthly cost of a single-driver parking permit.

Carpool members   Monthly cost per member

3       $39.33
4       $29.50
5       $23.60

Carpools with 6 or more people can form a vanpool and qualify for free parking.

Zimride Carpool matching

All UCSF students, staff, and faculty are eligible to sign-up for Zimride. There is no cost for membership. Click on the following link to sign up today: http://zimride.com/ucsf.

Find carpool riders in your area by singing up with Zimride. Or, get a list of carpoolers by region from 511.org's Regional Rideshare Ridematch Service at www.511.org.

Once you have organized a carpool, sign up for a carpool permit at Transportation Services. We will provide you with the necessary application forms required for each carpool member. Career status employees may opt to have the permit fee deducted automatically from their monthly paycheck before tax. For more details on permit issuance and payment, contact us at (415) 476-1511.

Additional services

UCSF Transportation Services offers a free shuttle service to transport UCSF faculty, staff, students, patients and visitors between primary campus sites and some secondary campus locations for University business throughout the workday.
