Carpool Lighten your commute burden by carpooling Save money and park with ease when you share your UCSF commute (most campus destinations apply, immediately available at Mission Bay and Laurel Heights). Each carpool needs a minimum of two people to qualify.
Carpool parking permit As a carpool member, you may purchase a carpool parking permit together with your fellow carpoolers on a pre-tax basis. Carpools must arrive at their designated parking lot with at least two riders in the car. Compare the following prices to the $138.00 monthly cost of a single-driver parking permit.
Carpools with 6 or more people can form a vanpool and qualify for free parking. Carpool Permit RequirementsCarpool permits can be used when there are two or more occupants in the vehicle at the time the vehicle pulls into the parking stall. Reserved stalls are available for carpool permit holders during morning commute hours. Carpool permit holders must use these stalls when parking on weekdays between 6AM and 9AM. Parking is allowed in any other stalls beyond these times. A carpool permit holder is not required to carpool with a particular individual(s) but they must have two occupants in the vehicle when parking. To be eligible for a carpool permit in the Surge and Woods lots your primary worksite must be the Parnassus campus, you must have a valid UCSF employee ID number, and an "active" UCSF employee status. Why we encourage Carpooling UCSF Transportation Services and the UCSF Sustainability Steering Committee are adding reserved carpool parking spaces at a variety of campus locations including Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mission Center, and Laurel Heights. To date we have added 50+ stalls, with many more to come. This transportation sustainability effort is one of many intended to reduce UCSF green house gas emission to 2000 levels by 2014 and to 1990 levels by 2020. These goal are set forth in the UCSF Climate Action Plan with guidance from the UC Office of the President to attain climate neutrality as soon as possible while fulfilling UCSF's mission of advancing health worldwide.
