Cesar Sanchez Named West Campus/Parnassus Operations Director

Cesar Sanchez has been named director - West Zone/Parnassus Operations, effective Sept. 14. He comes to UC San Francisco from Jones Lang LaSalle, a commercial real estate company, where he was responsible for delivering integrated facilities services to one of the company’s key clients. Prior to that, Cesar served as head of Facility Management & Site Services at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In that role, he was responsible for a staff of more than 150 and a budget of $24 million. Cesar was responsible for plant engineering, facility operations and maintenance, small construction projects, warehouse, waste disposal, custodial services, and fleet services.

“During Cesar’s tenure at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, customer satisfaction scores rose from 74 to 96 percent in a two-year period,” said Jon Giacomi, Executive Director of Facilities Services.

Cesar holds bachelor’s degrees in both biochemistry and corporate finance from San Francisco State University. He is also a Certified Facilities Manager from the International Facility Management Association and has completed the Berkeley Executive Leadership Program at the Haas School of Business.

“This important hire fills one of two vacant posts on my leadership team,” Jon said. “I am extremely happy to have Cesar join the team and I look forward to filling the final leadership team job of director - infrastructure & utilities services in the near future.”
