Group 3b

If you are an affiliate with UC Hastings, the California College of the Arts (CCA), Golden Gate University (GGU), or the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) and you wish to transfer to another unit, you should elect to be in Group 3b.

Only the affiliates named above are eligible to be a part of Group 3b. If you are a UCSF affiliate and you wish to transfer to a different unit, you should elect to be in Group 3a.

In order to be a part of Group 3b, you must return the Group 3b Housing Intent Form to Housing Services by Friday, February 27th.

Tenants who return their Housing Intent Form on time will be assigned a lottery number on March 16th.

Lottery numbers are assigned randomly and determine the order in which Housing Services contacts tenants to schedule an appointment with an Assignments Coordinator. They do not necessarily determine the order in which tenants select their new unit.

Tenants affiliated with UC Hastings, the California College of the Arts, Golden Gate University, or the San Francisco Art Institute are not eligible to live on the Parnassus campus.

Between March 17th and March 20th the Housing Services office will contact each Group 3b tenant by phone and offer him or her an appointment with an Assignments Coordinator.

This appointment will occur sometime between March 23rd and April 17th. During this meeting the Assignments Coordinator and tenant will discuss which units are available. If the tenant finds a unit he or she likes, the Assignments Coordinator will record the tenant's choice. This contract will be due back to the Housing Services office on May 15th. If the contract is not returned by the due date, the tenant forfeits the apartment and must vacate on July 1, 2009.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Tenants affiliated with UC Hastings, the California College of the Arts, Golden Gate University, or the San Francisco Art Institute are only eligible to rent a single room within a four bedroom apartment. Affiliates with these schools are not eligible to rent any other apartment type.

Because of high occupancy rates, tenants will not be able to see units in advance. However, whenever possible, floor plans and descriptions of units will be available.

Tenants transferring from one apartment to another are not required to submit an initial rent payment!

All contracts will begin on July 1st, 2009 and expire on July 1st, 2010. Because all contracts end on July 1st, tenants transferring into new apartments may not be able to move into their new space until after the unit has been cleaned and prepared for a new occupant. In these situations, the tenant will stay in his or her current assignment and pay the 2009 - 2010 rental rate for that unit until the new unit is ready.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Group 3b tenants who transfer to a new apartment will, in most instances, be able to move into their new unit after 5pm on a Friday in July or August. Tenants will take the weekend to move and return their old keys by 9am on the following Monday. PLEASE NOTE THAT TRANSFERING TENANTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PRO-RATED RENT ON BOTH UNITS DURING THE WEEKEND MOVE. In other words, tenants will be rent responsible for the unit they are moving in to and the unit they are moving out from for the entire weekend (Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night).

Tenants in Group 3b who sign new contracts may cancel their 2009 - 2010 contract for any reason before June 1st. Tenants must submit a written request to Housing Services before June 1st in order to be released from their contracts.

If you are unable to make your appointment, you may appoint a proxy by submitting a letter to the Housing Services office at least 24 hours before your appointment. The letter must be signed by you and must clearly designate who will be acting as your proxy. You can drop the letter off at the Housing Services office or fax it to the appropriate office. Fax numbers can be found on the Group 3b Housing Intent Form.
