Changes to Construction Plans Printing Service

Changes to Construction Plans Printing Service

Documents & Media will be discontinuing in-house production of high-volume, next-day black & white large format construction plans after October 31, 2016.

Our in-house OCE Large Format Printer located at our main production facility at the UCSF Mission Center (1855 Folsom St.) used for black & white large format construction plans has reached its end-of-life point and we will not be investing any further University funds to maintain it.  Additionally, the associated computer software and hardware that is needed to continue to run this output device and still maintain the required network security requires additional funds that will not be invested on an obsolete piece of production equipment.

Documents & Media will still be able to produce smaller black & white and color large format jobs after October 31, 2016, but it will require a 48-hour turnaround time (regular business hours) instead of the current 24-hour turnaround time (regular business hours) for this type of work.  These jobs may be produced in-house or managed through a third-party print partner.  A cost estimate will be provided per job at the start of the job, as the previous negotiated pricing will be discontinued after October 31, 2016.

Documents & Media will still be able to produce black & white and color specs book jobs after October 31, 2016 and a cost estimate will be provided per job at the start of the job, as the previous negotiated pricing will be discontinued after October 31, 2016.

The “Plans & Specs” web portal page (including the related links/sites found at the portal page) will be removed on October 31, 2016, along with any associated file upload or related website maintenance process.

Please contact manager Mike Brower if you have any further questions regarding this matter.
