Third Street Bridge Will be Closed Through Jan. 26
The Third Street Bridge will be closed through Friday, Jan. 26 for counterweight repair work.
The bridge, also known as the Lefty O’Doul Bridge, is a major commute artery that connects the UC San Francisco Mission Bay campus with the downtown area. San Francisco Public Works suggests commuters traveling southbound take King Street to Highway 280 South and exit at 18th Street. Northbound commuters should take 16th Street to Seventh Street and then Brannan Street to avoid the bridge.
Additional restoration work is anticipated to begin starting in early spring 2018. Work is being done during this off-season period to accommodate the San Francisco Giants and to minimize impacts to the general public.
Additional information about the bridge project can be found at the San Francisco Public Works website.
