Child Care Bulletin Board
This board is provided as a campus service. We post notices for nannies/sitters, share care, care exchange and families seeking caregivers. All information is self-reported; the listings have not been screened. Please note that the UCSF Child Care Referral Service provides information, not recommendations or endorsements. Parents and caregivers are responsible for thoroughly evaluating potential care arrangements. For information about background checks for nannies and sitters, please contact TrustLine (1-800-822-8490, www.trustline.org), the in-home caregiver screening program administered by the California Department of Social Services.
To post a notice on this board, call (415) 476-2692 or email pauline.lee@ucsf.edu

Currently, we do a variety of activities including Music Together classes, trips to the library for Rhyme Time and Story Time, and lots of trips to the Panhandle and Golden Gate Park! We're always looking for more activities and fun things to do, but are just as happy at home singing songs, reading books, and playing with toys. If you would like more information, please feel free to visit Leah's website at www.nannyleah.com or email using one of the addresses above.
CATEGORY (FAMILY RECOMMENDING) NANNY DATE POSTED 11/13/09 NAME Kate (current employer), Maria (nanny) CONTACT INFO Kate: katewinks@yahoo.com; 415-407-6318 CARE OFFERED live-out, full-time caregiver for long-term position with single family (not share care or twins) HOURS/DAYS flexible PREFERRED AGE RANGE ideally start with infant, grow with child and family long-term START DATE available by the beginning of 2010 FEE negotiable (legal/taxed) ADDITIONAL INFO UCSF family recommends nanny. Maria is truly amazing, and leaving her is the hardest thing about our move to Oregon. Our loss, however, could be your gain. We have employed Maria since early 2006 when our first daughter was 2 months old. She has been instrumental in guiding our kids' development into kind, generous, affectionate little people, and also in guiding our development as parents. Our kids love Maria, and with good reason. She is unfailingly kind and patient, and always has a positive spirit. She cares for our children as though they are her own (she does not actually have any children of her own). She has all the qualities that one wants in a caregiver. She is reliable, punctual, responsible, honest and frugal. Most importantly, she is always focused on the children and their safety, happiness and well-being. Maria does not drive, but this has not been an impediment in any way - in fact quite the opposite. They take the bus or train all over the city and enjoy it. They attend all sorts of free or nearly free activities including preschool classes and city-sponsored child development programs of various sorts that over the years Maria has determined to be worthwhile. Before she came to us, Maria worked as a nanny for 3 different families over a span of 20+ years, each for extended periods. She still keeps in close touch with all her "kids", the oldest of whom are now college graduates. All (parents and kids) would provide glowing recommendations. Let me summarize by saying that if you have an infant or very young children, you would be lucky to find anyone else close to as good as Maria. Other facts: Maria does not drink or smoke. She is a U.S. citizen. Her English comprehension is good, but communicating with her does take some getting used to. At our request, she speaks mainly Spanish with our kids. Maria is looking for a full-time position in San Francisco to start some time around the first of the year. Her hours for us have varied over the years - right now she is working 7:30am-5:00pm. She is generally able to accommodate changes in schedule and late evenings as long as she has advance notice. We pay her on a salary basis, legally and fully reported, and we cover her health insurance premium and her monthly MUNI pass. Logistics: Because Maria is coming with us to Portland in early December to help with the transition, she will not be available to meet a prospective family during that time; we are starting early to help her identify the right position. Please respond to this ad with a phone number and a little bit of information about your child care needs/requirements, and I'll happily talk with you more about Maria. She is truly special.
