Françoise Chanut, PhD
Program Director, Professional Skills Development

Françoise Chanut is the Program Director for Professional Skills Development within the Office of Career and Professional Development. Chanut is building new programs, services and resources to help UCSF students and scholars enhance their skills in oral and written communications, negotiation and conflict resolution and leadership and management.

Chanut completed her doctoral training in the Biology program at the University of Utah and her undergraduate work in Cell Biology at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France. Previously at UCSF, Chanut conducted postdoctoral research in the laboratories of J. Michael Bishop and Ulrike Heberlein, where she also served as Laboratory Manager. She also holds a Certificate in Science Communication from UC Santa Cruz.

Before joining the OCPD in March of 2006, Chanut was an editorial assistant for California Wild, a magazine published by the California Academy of Sciences.
