Kathleen Cassidy, MS
Program Director, Health Sciences

Kathleen Cassidy is the Program Director for the health science students. She has over 10 years of experience working as a career counselor with students in a university setting.  She currently develops programs and works individually with graduate students in nursing, physical therapy, medicine, dentistry and pharmacy assisting them in exploring career options, setting goals and preparing for and navigating their career paths.   

Prior to working at UCSF, Cassidy was the Assistant Director at Mills College Career Center and the Manager of the Career Counseling Library at UC Berkeley. Both at Mills and at Berkeley she had the opportunity work with students on a variety of career development issues including self-assessment, exploring career options, decision making, developing job search strategies, resume and cover letters, personal statements, interviewing, networking ,informational interviewing, evaluating and negotiating job offers, dealing with burnout and exploring work/life balance issues.

Cassidy has an MS in Counseling with a specialization in Career and College from San Francisco State University and earned her BA in Literature from Scripps College.  She has additional training using career assessments and has completed both the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory certification programs.  She is particularly interested in helping students understand how their interests, skills and values influence career choice and ultimately career satisfaction.
